I just found this…http://www.onetruemedia.com/otm_site/view_shared?p=153734a8cac8640681efb5
a photo montage I created of twins when they were only 1 year old! I have just shed a few little tears…OK I am a blubbering mess. Where have those years and my babies gone? I must make one that includes Lachie soon. I am posting it here so I don’t lose the link again!

So after the big pick, we needed to get those oranges used up! There was a large full wheelbarrow load, so some were kept in the fridge to eat, some were given away, and the rest were juiced. I froze most of the juice to use over the next few weeks and kept one bottle out to use that day. Goodbye citrus of 2009! There is already blossom and some small fruit on ready for next year now-delicious…

Ahhhh listening to the rain on the iron roof right now- loving it :)

I can’t believe how long it has been since I posted here! Lots been happening- blah, blah, blah…that is nothing usual though, just not sure why I have been so slack?…anyway I thought this rated a mention…

Today the boys and I decided to pick the remaining oranges on our ‘late harvest’ tree as the birds were starting to take over!

We found this monster…

Yep that is a normal sized orange on the left, from the same tree! Should get a fair bit of juice from that one ;)

And here is the competition

The Rainbow Lorikeet- so beautiful (and funny, they are real characters). We left a few oranges up high for them :-)

Another Milo vest complete!!

This is another size 3 knit from WOOLganics. The colourway is called twilight (hand dyed). The colours are lovely but I am not overjoyed with how it pooled in the body, but still very happy with the finished product. I used some WOOLganic in ‘Leura’ to create the star and also do the waistband.

Now…onto the rainbow dress I have started for my niece before I start anymore Milo’s ;) (though J has still not forgotten about the red crocodile one! a snake would also do he said…that *might* be easier)

Well I am getting slack!! Just over a week ago my ‘babies’ celebrated their 4th birthday. We had a lovely day at the markets- jumping castle, pony ride, sausage sizzle…plus a little puzzle purchased by H and a ball for J. Then at home we cut our cakes (Alpine Mud requested by H…LOVES white choc ;) , Master J happy with standard mud- takes after his mum lol) with our nanny, Aunty B and cousins visiting from NSW. The boys were both spoiled with pressies too, and naturally had a great day! Hard to believe that 4 years has already gone by…

So a belated online happy birthday to my little big boys :-) You are both very loved xxxxx

I just finished off another ‘Milo’ vest- this time incorporating the owl cable detail. It is so cute! I am very impressed with my first attempt at knitting cable and eternally grateful to Tikki for her gorgeous pattern that encouraged me to have a go :-)

This is for little man H and he is very pleased with it! A size 3, knit using WOOLganic organic merino in Kyoto which is a beautiful dark navy blue. I bought six little light caramel coloured buttons and stitched them on for the owl eyes.

The sizing is spot on- this fits my slim almost 4 year old perfectly :-)

Now I need to knit 2 more, and am really looking forward to it. Little man J has requested one in red…but with a crocodile cable!! Not sure if I am up for that lol…might have to talk him into the owls too I think.

Have just completed another tri-colour top, again with a little experimentation! This time I tried out the honeycomb stitch for the hems and neckline topstitching, and I also really like this! It is nice and strong on this super stretchy stella fabric too. I was also able to try out using an overlocker very briefly, so I stitched up the sleeve and side seams using this. Very quick and a nice finish! One day I’ll get one :-)

I thought it would be nice to get some action shots now that all 3 boys have a set each…

Hmmm now just to decide…what next?! Something for me maybe? I am in desperate need of some more long sleeved tops now that it is cooler. I am thinking of the Ottobre Design Creative Workshop #303.

Following on from the set of 3 ‘Superhero/Wiggles’ undies (yes I did finally get three pairs done- and was really happy with how they turned out- particularly the last pair…then I wondered why did I bother sewing some for Master L when he is in nappies most of the time!…wishful thinking ;) )…

I have just completed the second long sleeved t-shirt to match! This is Ottobre Design Winter 4/2004 #35- great easy pattern and I love the shape. I really like these bright colours together too, and the ’stella’ knit has such a lovely texture.

The first one I did had a dodgy neckline so I have ripped it off and will do a new one before it is seen in public…I was cutting the ribbing the wrong way I discovered…so now I know to cut with ‘maximum stretch’ of the fabric. It made all the difference!

I decided to get a bit tricky and try to mimic a coverstitch machine using a twin needle on the hems and to topstitch the neckline too. I even worked up the confidence to go with a contrasting colour to really show off!

Sorry about the dodgy light in these photos…I could not wait for daylight!

I am a bit worried as to how this straight twin needling (I used a very long stitch length for better definition btw) will hold up on such a stretchy fabric- we’ll see how it survives the toddler test!

I used a stretch stitch on the seams this time which looks and will function alot better than the zig zag I used on the last shirt.

Overall I am very happy with this one! There is a certain Farbenmix velour iron on transfer coming soon the the Crafty Mama’s store that I think will be absolutely perfect for this ;)

When I saw Tikki’s new Milo (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/milo-3) pattern (unisex…YAY!!) I was inspired to pick of the needles after a 12 month break from knitting. Being that I am pretty much a novice knitter still…I had to consult the knitting help website more than once to remind myself of some techniques lol!

I had already knit a Giving Pixie Hat (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/lindys/giving-pixie-hat) from this wool (a combination of 3 of my fav’s- Mosiac Moon dye job, rainbow & Treliske OM!) …so there was only about 80g left (I estimated because I don’t have a set of scales atm). It had just been sitting there and I thought that this vest would be perfect for it. I only had enough for the 3 month size though!

I decided to leave the cabling out as the wool provides enough interest on its own, and the cabling only gets lost anyway IMO with these sorts of colourways (plus there was the issue of possibly needing more wool for this!).

I ran out of wool as I got to the waistband, so I used some solid red Treliske OM for the garter stitch section there and I love how that turned out. I had dyed this up when I knit the Giving Pixie Hat.

It was so good to get some more knitting practice in here- a real pleasure to do! I also tried a new cast off- the Elizabeth Zimmerman sewn one (flexible), so learned something new.

I will be gifting this one obviously as my boys are a tad big for it now, but I am going to knit them solid navy blue ones using some WOOLganic and I am going to try the owl cable option on those! Maybe add some little eyes to make it stand out

Oh if anyone reading can tell me the code I need to hide those url links about (you know, so you can just click on the word?) I would be grateful! The one I thought it was does not work!

The second pair of superhero/wiggles undies are done! (Ottobre Design winter 4/2004 #37).

Much happier with these- the waist is much neater than the first pair. An action shot (yes, luckily it is still pretty warm here during the day!). Pair number 3 and some t-shirts to come now.
